Attorney David Shobe
I was born and grew up in Tampa. I attended the University of South Florida where I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science. While at the University of South Florida, I studied Constitutional law and how the politics shaped the decisions of the US Supreme Court. This fueled my desire to attend law school.
I went on to attend Stetson University College of Law earning my Juris Doctorate in July of 2000. I began my legal career as a state prosecutor with the Hillsborough County State Attorney’s Office, successfully litigating numerous jury and nonjury trials. In 2007, I accepted an appointment to be the Municipal Prosecutor for the City of Tampa where I directed Tampa’s criminal municipal ordinance enforcement. I have always sought out positions where I believed I could make a difference and improve people’s lives. Some of these positions included working as a Senior Attorney for the Department of Children and Families and owning my own law practice specializing in the areas of criminal defense mortgage foreclosure.
My Strengths
I am passionate about family law. I strive to find the best resolution to fit the unique circumstances of each case. I understand that when clients entrust us with their case, they are asking us to help them navigate a difficult time in their lives. Understanding this important concept helps me analyze the issues in a client’s case not only from the perspective of achieving a successful legal outcome, but attempting to restore a sense of normalcy to my client’s lives.
What I Find Most Exciting in Legal Practice
What I find most exciting in legal practice is the opportunity to correct an injustice for my clients. Some of my favorite cases are one in which I am given the opportunity to help a client with a case where they suffered an injustice whether it be a wrongful arrest, an improperly sought injunction, or a partner or spouse attempting to take their time with their children away from them. Having the opportunity and knowledge to use the law to correct their injustice makes practicing law worth the long hours it may require.
My Personal Life
In my personal life, I enjoy spending time with my wife Mary and our son Elliot. I am an avid movie buff and enjoy watching both recent movies and those from my childhood. I also enjoy traveling around the U.S. visiting major cities and small towns. I really enjoy the diversity our country has to offer.
